Gnome Slackbuild

Post  jawsh569 on Tue May 25, 2010 2:38 pm

I'm not sure if this is the right section to reply/post. Has anyone used Gnome SlackBuild? If so are there any issues with it? What window managers are you guys using? If there is a better section to post this in please advise.

That's OK to discuss that here.

I haven't used the SlackBuild so I can't answer. I'm using Xfce 4.6.1 and I like it much. Light, it is perfect on my very old Pentium III. I also used KDE on many distros but I preferred the versions that were < 4.

I currently have GSB running on my laptop and now my desktop. "So far so good". Fairly simple to install and configure. I do miss KDE 3.X and am not a fan of KDE 4.X at all. I do use xfce and fluxbox normally. I may post more on GSB eventually after using it for awhile. But I'm glad they stepped up and keep development going. There are a few other gnome projects out there for Slackware but last development stages were back on Slackware 12.2, so I think they are out of the race.

Yea, I acepted: I do not like Gnome. But, I don't have nothing against it.. . It is very useful!..

I want to work with Gnome Destop in my Virtual Machine with Slackware.. .

So, What is your advice? Dropline? GSB? onother one?

I would like to use a pure Slackware system, but (for study and practice) with Gnome Desktop

¡Saludos!

If you are going to use Gnome in Slackware, I'd go with GSB. GSB is more up to date. The other ones are behind.
