Hi Jawsh,

Well, no, I haven't tried it. But we have more and more readers, I suspect someone will answer your question. Hmmm ??? Smile

Regards,

I'm still using Xfce which is perfect for my old bike. And I like it much. Actually I like versions 4.6.1 and 4.6.2 more than the previous ones. Their concept is very good.

I'm not a GNOME user but I know lots of people love it. And I think the guys working on the GSB are doing a very good job.

The number of DE's that are available is a strong aspect of Linux. Do you agree ?

Just came across this post on twitter and after observing the forums here I felt like I might be at home, so I registered an account on this forum Smile But yes I use Gnome 3.0 with my slackware 13.37/current install(s). I installed Gnome 3 from GnomeSlackBuilds (gsb) things go rather smoothly. There are a lot of things different in gnome 3 than what you may be use to though. Actually everything is different in Gnome 3.. I have customized my panel and removed the frustrating extensions I didn't like, having said that I would call my Gnome a highly customized gnome edition. With some tweaking of the .js files for gnome-shell you can have a really lightweight Gnome desktop using gnome 3. I'd say just as light if not lighter than the default XFCE desktop.. I have noticed over the years XFCE seems to went from light weight to bloated.. Give gnome 3 a try its not hard at all to get up and going and if you don't like it, its rather easy to uninstall.

Sorry it took so long for someone to finally answer you about gnome 3 on slackware! Hope you find this helpful and anything you may need let me know!
