There has been a lot of discussion about why Ubuntu consistently fails to deliver a stable, reliable product.

Re: Ubuntu Is A Poor Standard Bearer For Linux
Hi Nach,
I tried two versions of Kubuntu in the past: 6.06.1 and 7.04. This distro is really not my cup of tea. I prefer a system that has a great concept, comes with rich programs and has few bugs.

I've use Ubuntu sometimes. . only for.. . "ready to use/work" When I do not have time, install Ubuntu and ready to use..
Is not a bad system, but the Article have reason.. They only think in future, but their users is on Present!
With Slackware, my problem is the ATI drivers for my graphic integrated card. It don't have support and the open Drivers
are still enough.. . for very basic composition.. I need a new graphic card!..
I only plug my Hp Printer, and Slackware detects it.. and is still ready for print/scan
Wonderfull.. .
Re: Ubuntu Is A Poor Standard Bearer For Linux
What's good is that there are hundreds of Linux distros and we can all find what we like.
Re: Ubuntu Is A Poor Standard Bearer For Linux
Yeah, that's true..
I like for example.. OpenSuse and Fedora.. Think these are a great Distros for "ready to work"
But, sinceraly... I can not stay more than 1 week with no crash it hehehe!!

Re: Ubuntu Is A Poor Standard Bearer For Linux
I've never tried openSuSE but I spent ten months using Fedora 7 and 8. Not bad but I had more and more problems with that last version so when Fedora 9 came out, I... switched to another Linux distro.
